An educational book publisher, Learn Africa Plc, said digital books would not phase out physical books.
Learn Africa Plc Chairman Chief Emeke Iwerebon, who made this known on the company’s 60th anniversary, noted that Learn Africa would focus more on digital books.
He said, “Digital books will not phase out physical books, we will always have paper. In developed societies, where the e-revolution started, they still use paper. We can’t waste paper, but we can have 60% paper, 40% content. Data is also a challenge, parts of America too, they still have data issues.
“Without a doubt, the future of Learn Africa, like that of any forward-looking organization, is technology. The advent of digital technology has necessitated and constrained the transition from traditional publishing to digital publishing, the end products being e-books and e-learning. Learn Africa is not left behind in this digital transformation. We have worked with the federal government and others to develop teacher training content powered by Learn Africa for the N-Teach space of the N-power program.
The chairman of the event, Ogun State Commissioner for Education Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, encouraged the organization to value its staff who had contributed to the celebration of the milestone.
“It’s a moment that gives us the opportunity to remember the staff who played a major role in the success story of the organization. Let staff know how appreciated it is, ”he said.
A former Managing Director of Learn Africa, Mr. Julius Olowoniyi, said: “We were the first company to be computerized and it saves us losses. The company gave me promotion after promotion, if you are brilliantly successful you don’t need a sponsor. I want to thank those who worked for me.
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Council for Educational Research and Development, Professor Ismail Junaidu, also praised Learn Africa Plc for its resilience over the years.
Likewise, Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Ms. Halima Lawal, said: “I must salute Learn Africa on its 60th anniversary. They have contributed to the development of teachers and they have responded effectively to challenges.
