In a year filled with arguably as much uncertainty as the previous one, in 2021, the fire industry remained committed to meeting challenges head-on. The Act is designed to complement the Building Safety Bill and provide a basis for secondary legislation which will not require another Act of Parliament, based on recommendations made as part of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry .
Several years after Grenfell, many believe that systemic change in building security has not occurred to the extent necessary. Although there is more emphasis on “piecemeal changes” and component safety, people like building safety campaigner Gill Kernick believe that high-consequence events still go unaddressed. .
All of this and more is covered in IFSEC Global’s free downloadable eBook, which includes the names of our top fire safety influencers for 2021, and a round-up of the biggest fire safety lawsuits and news from around the world. the year.
