peak guard

Delete MurrayDelete Murray FD – $9,700 DK – $10,700
Opponent – MIA
Proj Pts FD – 50.35 DK – 53.12

Dejounte Murray is having a great season, racking up tons of fantastic points and doing everything for Spurs. He’s coming off a monster 31-point, 14-assist, 13-rebound triple-double against the Wizards in a double-overtime win. Because of that, I’m a bit worried about the minutes being called up against the Heat back-to-back, but he’s still cheap enough to be considered on FanDuel specifically. On DraftKings, the price gets a bit steep. But Murray has such a high floor considering all the ways he’s scored fantastic points this season.

Brandon GoodwinBrandon Goodwin FD – $5,400 DK – $4,200
Opponent – HAS BEEN
Proj Pts FD – 27.25 DK – 27.42

The Cavaliers simply can’t take a break at point guard this season. Pretty much everyone they put there got hurt. Darius Garland, Colin Sexton, Ricky Rubio and now Rajon Rondo have been injured. That will leave Brandon Goodwin here Saturday to lead the offense against the Wizards. He went in there for 24 minutes Thursday when Rondo went down and he finished with 15 points, five assists and four rebounds. The price has gone up, but I’m not too worried about it on both sites. The DraftKings salary is an easy call.

shooting guard

Tyler HerroTyler Herro FD – $6,000 DK – $6,200
Opponent – HER
Proj Pts FD – 31.04 DK – 35.08

It is often very difficult to recommend bench players as one can play, especially on larger slates, as the minutes can be too volatile. Herro is one of the few exceptions to that rule given how the Heat are using him this season. The runaway favorite for Sixth Man of the Year right now, Herro has always remained in that role, almost regardless of Miami’s injury situations. They’re healthier now, but he still came off the bench on Friday to drop 25 points on a 9-18 shot in the win over the Knicks. Price is right in the mid-range, but I’m fine here against a Spurs side who are below average in defense while running the fifth-fastest pace.

Will BartonWill Barton FD – $5,800 DK – $6,400
Opponent – BAG
Proj Pts FD – 31.47 DK – 32.55

It’s still a bit weird for the Nuggets outside of Jokic, because you can’t be sure where their shots will come from. Because Jokic makes it easy to attack, lags can occur in different places and that can mean fluctuating performance between players. Barton is one of those guys, but that’s what keeps his price relatively in check. The Nuggets are home and at home against the Kings, and last time out Barton smoked them with 31 points, five rebounds and three assists. There’s no chance he’ll do it again, but I still think it’s a value game, just like we thought last time.

small forward

Giannis AntetokounmpoGiannis Antetokounmpo FD – $11,700 DK – $11,800
Opponent – BKN
Proj Pts FD – 60.28 DK – 63.48

The Bucks take on the Nets at home in this one and should have a relative field day against a team that is still without Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons. And given the circumstances, there’s plenty of incentive for Milwaukee to come out early and trample Brooklyn in an effort to ease the latter’s slide down the standings. Giannis is expensive, that’s for sure, but he should be able to dominate here. And he’s a dude with an average of 29 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and 2.4 blocks + steals. It’s another MVP-level season for the Greek Freak and you only have to worry about the potential blowout.

isaac okoroisaac okoro FD – $4,100 DK – $3,800
Opponent – HAS BEEN
Proj Pts FD – 22.22 DK – 23.92

The Cavaliers are really thin on guard right now, and while Okoro isn’t strictly a conventional double guard, you have to think there will be at least a few extra minutes for him in this one. He comes very cheap on DraftKings on a night when you might want a clearance set of two to fit some of the superstars at the top of the pay scale. He started strong the last game, but ended up losing ground, taking just six shots. But it’s a good game against the Wizards who rank 23rd in defensive efficiency this season. I’ll take the risk on Okoro given Cleveland’s overall injury situation.

Power forward/center

Nikola JokicNikola Jokic FD – $11,500 DK – $12,000
Opponent – BAG
Proj Pts FD – 57.82 DK – 60.27

On DraftKings where you can play both him and Gafford (below), I think it’s easy. But on DraftKings you have to choose one or the other and I think you just have to spend on the Joker and save elsewhere. Look, he’s putting up MVP-level numbers right now, so there’s not much else to say about the dude. He’s a legit $12,000 player and that price is absolutely fair. When this is the case, you mostly have to look at the opposition and see if you get away with anything on that side of the ball. In this case, against the Kings, you are.

Kyle KuzmaKyle Kuzma FD – $7,400 DK – $8,800
Opponent – KEY
Project Pts FD – 43.14 NSP – 46.97

Until Kristaps Porzingis returns to the field in this game, I think we can continue deploying Kuzma without too much trouble. The FanDuel prize looks stuck and he’s coming off another monster game on Friday with 36 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the 43-minute double-overtime game against the Spurs. He took a team-high 27 shots and continues to be the most-used player with Bradley Beal released and Spencer Dinwiddie traded. I know the Cavs are a tougher game here, but that’s fine with me considering the price.

Daniel GafffordDaniel Gaffford FD – $3,700 DK – $3,100
Opponent – KEY
Proj Pts FD – 28.19 DK – 26.78

Washington Wizards minutes are often very hard to trust because they can be anywhere. Just because you’re starting doesn’t mean you’ll close, and the bench can often outplay the first unit. That being said, if Gafford does it again (and he should be based on Cleveland’s size), then he’ll be another chalk game again at both sites. In Friday’s double-overtime loss to the Spurs, he played 29 minutes and had 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and one block. It’s actually the low end of expected production with that kind of run for it, especially on glass. It’s a lock if he’s with the starters.
