Since e-books have been in the news lately, we want to remind everyone that the Stonington Free Library offers the community a wide selection of e-books and audiobooks that can be downloaded to personal devices.
All of our digital titles are available free of charge to anyone with a valid Stonington Free Library card. In order to diversify our digital collection, the library offers different platforms. More than just e-books, our digital library also includes movies, music, and TV shows. We have items for children and adults in our electronic collection. In addition, the documents are available in Spanish, English and other languages of the world.
To access our digital materials, you will need your Stonington Free Library card number, a PIN and a valid email address. If you need help or have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our qualified staff by phone or e-mail.
Our digital outreach has grown exponentially during the pandemic. We are pleased to provide patrons with remote access to library materials seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Visit the Digital Library section of our website to learn more about these free services.
Through Overdrive, the library purchases individual titles that patrons can access on the Libby app. Discover up to 10 books at a time.
E-books and audiobooks can be downloaded to your smartphone, tablet or desktop computer. They automatically return after 21 days.
Kanopy offers independent films and documentaries. Kanopy is a video streaming service made available to you for free by Stonington Free Library. To register, all you need is your SFL card number and PIN, an email address and a device that connects to the internet. Watch movies on a smartphone, desktop or smart TV.
Stonington Free Library also offers Hoopla, which is a digital media service that lets you borrow movies, music, audiobooks, e-books, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet or your phone – and even your TV. Titles can be streamed immediately or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later.
All of these wonderful digital resources are available thanks to our supporters. Their generosity allows us to build our collection.
Each month, Deputy Director Karla Boeddinghaus Umland highlights the services offered by the Stonington Free Library.
