Hisense announces the launch of the new E Ink smartphone on May 11

HiSense announced that it will hold an event on May 11 to launch a new E Ink smartphone, game symphony reported. The company made the announcement on April 23 widely celebrated as World Book Day. Such a device will serve as a truly portable electronic reader that can be comfortably carried in the pocket. Users will be able to catch up on their reading just about anywhere, whether waiting at the bus stop or on the go. The smaller size may require more frequent page changes, but nonetheless, the anti-glare display paired with the portable size makes e-ink smartphones quite an attractive proposition for those who travel a lot.

Unfortunately, there is nothing the company has revealed about the upcoming smartphone. The company had only announced the Hi Reader E Ink smartphone in March this year. The smartphone comes with a 6.7-inch E Ink display with 300 PPI resolution and offers a nice 84% screen-to-body ratio. It supports 36-level DC dimming and automatically adjusts to ambient light to deliver a glare-free display that soothes the eyes.

Under the hood, the Hi Reader packs a 1.8GHz Zhanrui T610 octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. The device runs Android 10, making it instantly compatible with the dozens of reading apps already available. The user interface has been kept minimalistic without any of the annoying notifications to allow better focus on the reading aspect than anything else. It can also be used to listen to audiobooks. It measures just 7.5mm thick while tipping the scales at 177 grams, making it one of the lightest and thinnest eReaders on the market.

However, the Hi Reader has been confined to the Chinese domestic market only since its launch. Meanwhile, it’s interesting to see the company releasing another e-reader smartphone just a month later.
